Archery GB’s Big Weekend Hits Gold
Mounts Bay Archery Club welcomed a record number of first time archers on Sunday 5 June 2016 at their ‘have a go’ afternoon. The event formed part of Archery GB’s Big Weekend and proved to be a great success at the club’s outdoor shooting venue in the stunning grounds of H Tempest Ltd at Lelant.
The local archery club was one of 80 participating clubs nationwide and saw over 60 peoplehave a go. All manner of people came through the gates to try their hand at archery, as archery is such an accessible and family friendly sport both young and old picked up a bow and got involved. The club would like to thank all of those who attended, especially for their patience, as due to the overwhelming support for the event there was a considerable waiting time to have a go. However, the public were kept entertained by members of the archery club who demonstrated different types of bows and the weather was fantastic which kept our refreshments lady, Laura very busy.
Special thanks go out to all the club members and their families who gave up their Sunday afternoon to welcome people into the club.
Archery enjoys relatively high levels of participation and grassroots events like the Big Weekend help bring new people into the sport and helps promote active lifestyles.
